Anderson Silva competed in a number of different organizations on his path to becoming the middleweight Champ of the UFC. Some of these include PRIDE, Cage Rage, Shoot and Rumble on the Rock. Once a member of Chute Boxe Academy, he left to form the Muay Thai Dream Team. In late November 2006, he joined a new team called Black House with Lyoto Machida, Vitor Belfort, Assuerio Silva, and the Nogueira brothers. On May 16, 2008, Silva and Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira opened the Team Nogueira MMA Academy in Miami, Florida. Silva is currently on a tear in the UFC that only two other fighters have done before. He holds the record for most consecutive wins, with 8-0. Welterweight fighters Royce Gracie and Jon Fitch also had 8 consecutive victories in the UFC. Silva has had some trouble finding much competition in his weight class, so while defending his title, he has also jumped up to light heavyweight and tested his skills in that weight class.
